I think @TuckerCarlson is wrong to blame "mercenary" leaders who "don't care" for our problems. People can be wrong without being bad. This is a point I try to emphasize in The Once and Future Worker's conclusion -- you don't need bad faith to end up with bad policy: 3/ 
On the other hand, I think people criticizing Tucker are wrong to imply we have a binary choice between demanding personal accountability from people and demanding better policy. Those things are not mutually exclusive, in fact they're complementary. 4/
That people are making bad choices in their lives is not an excuse for perpetuating bad policy that engenders those choices and makes those lives harder. Conservatives should be able to hold both ideas in their heads and hold themselves accountable for tackling the latter. 5/5
