Because India is STILL a democracy.
A simple aadhaar thread to explain why aadhaar should be opposed by anyone and everyone who cares about our Country and all its People.
Hundreds of people may vouch for you. You may have a Licence, School Certificate, PAN, Voter Card, Ration Card, Passport etc.
Yet, if aadhaar declares that you are NOT you, NOTHING will let you negate it.
That's Civil Death.
Biometric authentication failure rates range from 6% (UIDAI) to 49% (Economic survey of India 2016-17).
That's 7.2 crore people upwards who WILL BE DENIED THEIR IDENTITY by aadhaar.
Permanently.
See full thread.
UIDAI cannot identify you from your biometric alone.
The "lost and found" nonsense is sheer propaganda.
As per submission on affidavit by the UIDAI.
"According to the @WorldBank Digital Dividend Report India can save Rs.77,000 crore /year by using Aadhaar"
That the statement above is one of the BIGGEST lies about aadhaar has been proven many times over, but acknowledge it and aadhaar dies.
No verification of documents when you get Aadhaar made. So you can create any aadhaar Identity you want with forged documents.
Also a fact is that the UIDAI is missing POI and POA docs against a significant number of the aadhaar numbers issued.
70,000 Indians born every day. All usable, brand new biometrics for anyone wanting to “create” a fake identity.
26,000 die each day. Unauthorized “Edits” can replace their biometrics/demographics and usurp their identity.
This WILL happen when the rewards are enough.
Poor quality of Aadhaar hardware and processes & the fact that fingerprints are trivial to duplicate makes for a terrible security risk wherever your aadhaar is used.
AEPS needs only a fingerprint and aadhaar number to operate a bank account.
Biometrics are not consistent, changeable (age, health), irrevocable and easily reproducible (fraud).
Should NEVER be used at large scale & with algorithmic, centralized control.
UK destroyed its entire biometric citizens database in 2011
gov.uk/government/new…
And those of all Defence Services Personnel of this country (for whom aadhaar is mandatory)?
UIDAI will NOT tell you.
There's a case pending on this in the Delhi High Court since 2014.
Keeps getting postponed, strangely.
