I’m half way my trip to the Anglo-Australian Telescope @scienceANU at @SidingSpring.After 7 months & suffering the Guillain-Barré Syndrome in July, now ~98% recovered, I’m really looking forward combining supporting telescope observations & stargazing.I’ll need many more of these
You don’t know how much time I’ve waited to see this again!
Last night I didn’t have much time to tweet or share my excitement. After needing less than 5 min to get a very good polar alignment with my small telescope I took some few astrophotos... but I’ve forgotten the timelapse cable at home (ahhh!!) & have to take every shot by hand!
Time for a late afternoon walk at @SidingSpring. It just started raining when I was at the top of the mountain and I could get this panorama with a beautiful #rainbow over @scienceANU telescopes. It seems it is clearing now, I hope that too, more observing tonight!
Yesterday I took this new photo in front of 2dF at the AAT... perhaps should I use it as new avatar here?
Yesterday was a great long day: plenty of work done, supporting observations at the Anglo-Australian Telescope, virtual talks with students in Spain & #podcasting with @SBSSpanish, @theskyentists & @pcoffeebreak. I took this photo of Venus, Jupiter & AAT during morning twilight
Beautiful day at Siding Spring Observatory @SidingSpring ! After some coffee & light breakfast I’m already at the AAT looking forward starting another observing night. Hopefully also doing a bit of astrophotography using my amateur telescope !
Very busy today at the telescope. It’s 3:35am, still ~1.5h to go. I just finished a videoconference with some of my collaborators, @lgalbany told me I got more @ESO MUSE @ VLT time this current semester, I didn’t know it as all happened while I was sick! More dwarf galaxies!!
I’m never tired of this view... @SidingSpring 2dF+HERMES at the Anglo-Australian Telescope @scienceANU ready for starting observations in few hours, I’m walking & doing a bit of exercise now.
Are these my astronomers for tonight? Clear skies over the Anglo-Australian Telescope, we are ready to go! While I wait for the twilight to finish I’m following #NaukasCordoba #LasQueCuentan #scicomm #WomenInSTEM event right now happening in the city I’m from, Córdoba. Enjoy!
A quick #astrophoto I took last night trying to get the colours of the stars & emphasise nebulosities: Southern Cross, Carina Nebula, The Pointers, Omega Cen & surroundings. Stacking 24 exposures 3 min each (tracking) using CANON 5D, 35mm f2.8 lens, 6400 ISO, photoshop processed.
Telescopes (3.9m & 0.08m) ready to go for another clear night over Siding Spring Observatory @SidingSpring ! Do you like the T-shirt, @radioskylab_es ? Thanks A LOT for the gift!
I like to keep this thread for the future, so trying to ping @threadreaderapp to unroll it please! What a great tool if it works! Thanks!
