When we talk about improving the response to sexual harassment, a common response is concern for an increase in false positives. (And I do not mean to pick on @clayton_kazan here; he just asked it on a recent thread - thanks CK.)
First understand that we are enormously, egregiously, embarrassingly erring in the opposite direction. The burden of proof is so huge, the paths to reporting so fraught with its own punishment, the consequences minor even for established harassers...
We are absolutely sucking it with our response to *definitive* cases of abuse and harassment. The idea that we are *also* at the precipice of overshooting and making heads roll left and right over alleged sexual harassment that might be undersupported - seems highly unlikely.

We study how longevity in Canada changes across time and across earnings groups using a very large administrative dataset.

We are interested in how survival past age 50 varies across earnings groups in Canada, and how this has changed through time.

To study this question, we got secure access to an administrative database of Canada Pension Plan members covering births from the 1920s to the 1950s. 2/
The basic analysis: take all Canadians and measure their inflation-adjusted earnings from age 45-49.

Put them in bins according to this measure of earnings, and observe how long people in different bins live.

We use percentile (100), ventile (20), and quintile (5) bins.

Here’s some good news from the courts for your timeline: Iowa’s 72-hour mandatory delay for patients seeking abortions was stuck down by the Iowa Supreme Court.
I was an expert witness in this case, and the scientific evidence was clear: mandatory delay laws unnecessarily push patients later in pregnancy before they can obtain an abortion (average delay of over 1 week), and it does not help decision-making. It was simply another barrier.
As the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (@theNASEM) noted in a recent report, mandatory delay laws are another example of medically unnecessary laws that worsen the quality of abortion care. nationalacademies.org/hmd/Reports/20…

As a recap: even 20+ years after women reached near-equal numbers in medical school, we have not made progress in equity in compensation, promotion, leadership role, or recognition in the field as a whole.
