I would read a media story about why they continue to be so unrelentingly bad at this.
Is it weird AP rules? Is it one terrible editor? Is it a marketplace issue—needing to make content to appease their clients at more conservative papers? Is it just the worst and outdated “both sides” lazy assignment desk? All of the above?
In the actual piece, they lay out other things pretty sensibly. So this could just be a social media editor deciding to highlight the spiciest/worst bit of analysis in their. Whoops
