Please tell the servicemembers and veterans in your life: If you get a letter in the mail that that looks like this, don’t throw it away!
These gold-colored envelopes contain letters from RIP Medical Debt, an organization that pays off the medical bills of people in need.
Our newsroom and the 29 others owned by our parent company, McClatchy, are partnering with this organization to raise money to buy and forgive medical debt for veterans, servicemembers and their families around the country.
If you know a military family, please tell them to be on the lookout: Debt is bought and forgiven at random, so they might get a letter even though they didn’t ask for help.
