Wild story in Davidson:

Two people who claim allegiance to the Moorish Nation were found squatting in a multimillion-dollar home for sale once owned by the parents of the mayor of Davidson.

Interesting day- the property manager of a west Charlotte home told me the two Davidson suspects also declared allegiance to the Moorish Nation at his property. They claimed he has no authority over them. They refused to pay rent. Their lease expired.
When we got to the house the property manager and a maintenance worker were already there. The worker was going to change the locks- then he saw people inside. Police were called.

NEW: The Bladen County Sheriff's Office arrested Chris Eason on drug and weapon charges. Eason signed an affidavit about McCrae Dowless and is on the McCready team's subpoena wish list #NC09 #ncpol @wsoctv

Mark Harris told @PaulBoydWSOC9 that he communicated with McCrae Dowless frequently during the election but nothing illegal was ever discussed. He says Dowless called him and his wife when the allegations first surfaced and he denied everything #NC09 #ncpol
When pressed on the two women who told me they were paid by Dowless to pick up ballots and promote him, Harris said "I think it's very important to let the facts eventually tell the story." #NC09 #ncpol

Going through exhibits just released today from the state's 2016 investigation into McCrae Dowless' Bladen County operation.

Here's a text from one of his workers to a friend: "Only way I get paid is getting people to do this junk" #ncpol #nc09
Another text, from one of Dowless' workers to Dowless: "I'm scared and I don't remember half of what we are supposed to say" (to state investigators) #ncpol #nc09
That's interested because it makes it appear Dowless instructed them on what to say to state investigators. But in a state elections board hearing around the same time, Dowless said he only ever told his people to simply tell the truth. #ncpol #nc09

Today's (10-31) Data Thread: NC's 2018 'early votes' are setting new #s in terms of absentee by mail & one-stop/in-person for a mid-term:

Over 1.4M requests have been made & returned & accepted (accepted mail not yet past 2014 total #s, but in-person has)

2018's absentee by mail ballots have slowed somewhat, & thus the #s have not yet reached 2014's #s.

But in absentee onestop/in-person ballots, NC has exceed 2014's #s for both requested & accepted.

Reminder: 2014 had 10 days of early voting & 2018 has 18 days.

North Carolina's 'early votes' are on pace for a mid-term record; as of 10-26-18 for absentee by mail & one-stop/in-person:

Over 1M requests have been made;

Of those, 957K of both absentee by mail & onestop/in-person have been returned & accepted.

Regarding NC accepted in-person ballots (that will be the majority of absentees): as has been noted for a few days, 2018 seems more of a 'presidential' year than a traditional mid-term.

But, 2018's daily total is slipping behind 2016's daily total, as expected
