I take responsibility for my own orgasms and don't require anybody holding off or doing anything specifically geared to make me come.

While I understand, at least in theory, the idea of waiting, if possible, for the woman to come first, nevertheless, like any well-intentioned idea, I think it doesn't work for anybody when carried to extremes..

For one thing, it seems artificial and contrived. For another, it takes the spontaneity and joy out of fucking, and if that's the case, then what's the purpose?

Especially given the availability of various toys to encourage and facilitate coming, I don't see any point in having to hold off coming in order to allow your partner to go first, as it were.
