The "youthful indiscretions" of most of us do not involve acting like overprivileged sociopaths, my dude.
Those kids knew there were cameras. They were proud of this. If you truly believe kids deserve second chances, you should be GRATEFUL it went viral, which led to societal pushback that said "you shouldn't do this, it's shitty." Their parents apparently aren't teaching them that.
Peer groups are definitely powerful, but parents abdicating responsibility for a secondary role in "damage control" is ridiculous.

You know, I sitting here thinking about this. And what if kids go to public schools and go to non-selective colleges or get a job or go to the military? Those kids deserve a good education as well, and other kids don't need to be protected from them.
@jbouie isn't framing it this way, but this strikes me as part of the problem. The marketization of public schools and education and viewing of children as commodities where our primary concerns are positioning them to compete for status and earn lots of money one day.
Yes, I want my child to learn math and reading and science, but not so she can go to Harvard one day and be a millionaire, but so that she can think and do and question. I want her to learn to have empathy. And that kids think in different ways. & that everyone has smthg to offer

The MSM and Dems scream about kids being kept from parents in facilities with beds, food, water, & activities. They do not discuss the parents depriving them of those things as they crossed Mexico. There is also no talk of the near 22K kids sold into slavery and sex slavery yrly
Where is the recognition that separating these kids and verifying their escorts are valid family members is actually saving lives and preventing abuse and crimes against children? Where is the recognition of child endangerment by parents who subjected their kids to this? Crickets
