What happens in the following scenario?
A) Theresa May's slightly modified deal passes
B) Theresa May resigns shortly afterwards
C) Brexiter from the ERG becomes PM
D) New PM doesn't do much negotiating during transition period
E) We go over no-deal cliff at end of transition?
Yes, that might have consequences for the NI/Ireland border. But if a Brexiter PM set on a hard Brexit wanted it, is there anything in the WA to prevent it? (We all know by now, I hope, that the Political Declaration is so much toilet paper, because it carries no legal weight.)
In other words, does Theresa May's deal provide adequate binding safeguards against no deal? Because my understanding is that it doesn't. It just delays ND a bit.

And that might explain the recent reports that JRM is preparing to come around to backing TM's deal.
