/ Good call out by @ataussig There are days when I’m super proud to work in CPG and then there are also moments like this where it’s just flat out embarrassing. Well more specifically I’m embarrassed for the incumbents.
/ @nabisco, @MDLZ and @oreo -is this really the best you can do? Look at the innovation coming out of Apple, Amazon, Uber, Google, Netflix, Square. Why cant someone in CPG/Retail TRY to deliver that type of innovation.
/ Why can’t incumbents do more than deliver a bigger Big Mac, a new flavor of sugary cereal or a different color shampoo bottle?

Courage.
/ Dirk Van de Put (CEO of Mondelez)- I can’t tag you because you’re not on Twitter. When you took the job, was this what you envisioned the company launching? If so I would just so deeply love to hear how this generates long-term shareholder value.

/ I understand the pressure to hit quarterly #s. I get that some gimmicks like this from @oreo drive those short-term results. But if @satyanadella took that approach, he would probably be gone by now. He didn’t. He had courage. And shareholders benefit
/ I understand large CPG is terrified. And I understand why. But fear is leading to sustaining “innovations” like this which are slowly losing consumers and market share.
/ The industry needs some courage. Dirk needs some courage. Coke needs courage. Someone in CPG/Retail needs the courage to think longer-term.

/ >50% of CPG CEOs have turned over in the past 24 months. Much like NFL head coaches, that carousel in CPG will continue. When will the boards have the courage to appoint someone with true vision?
