In terms of data rights, North America is decades behind the advancements and progress of our friends across the Atlantic and elsewhere. @CommonsCMS in UK and #ETHI committee in Canada found themselves tugging at different strands of the same threads following the money and data.
It’s pretty exciting to watch these two committees share notes in public.

Reportedly the ICO received the passwords to seized CA/SCL servers recently. May help explain why “final” report seemed to exonerate LeaveEU. Evidence was not “found” then because they didn’t have all the passwords at that time. News of fines/audits today means they found stuff?

Most tech reporters still haven't discovered GDPR Article 8 and recitals 38 and 58. There's no way that teens 'consented' to the requirements that Sandberg pledged to honor in Brussels last year. No effing way. gizmodo.com/sheryl-sandber…
GDPR requires that disclosures and protections be age appropriate (38,58). Did any teens w/EU citizenship understand age appropriate language to inform a meaningful discussion with their parents? Was any technically verifiable consent granted? (Article 8)
When reporters seek out users of Facebook Research App are they afraid to answer important questions about consent? Regardless, any families with EU citizens that used this app should file a complaint with the appropriate Data Protection Authority.

Over the past weeks, the 🇪🇺 Parliament has issued two reports on #blockchain. I'll summarize the key points below.

First, an Opinion by the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, which considers the tech 'capable of decentralising forms of human interaction, the markets, banking and international trade'.

It informed the 2nd report I'll mention below and focused on the #GDPR, stressing the capacity of blockchains for data protection by design. It mentions zk-SNARKs specifically (but remains mum on implications for AML etc).

✨Have counted 8 of 'em, with examples - please feel free to add your own!
MISTAKE #1:
Garbage in, garbage out.

🤦‍♀️Failing to investigate your input for data entry or recording errors.

đź“ŠFailing to graph data and calculate basic descriptive statistics (mean, median, mode, outliers, etc.) before analyzing it in-depth.
👉EXAMPLE #1:
It's easy to make bad decisions on shoddy input! Here you see an outlier's impact on descriptive statistics.

Also: always consider the uncertainty in your measuring instruments. Just because you've gotten an *accurate* value doesn't mean it's *actually* correct.

I'm currently at this #Brexit conference in Copenhagen, where the British ambassador and several #DExEU officials will be on panels with representatives of Danish trade and security. It'll be very interesting to see what's said, especially in light of May's recent Munich speech.
