There's a special place in my heart for Roger Stone, who came to my down in March of 2017 as an invited (and well-paid) guest of the Oregon @gop. After his keynote address, he hung out in the hotel bar with these white power flashing brownshirts.
@GOP Here's a wee thread on the ironies of Stone speaking at the Oregon GOP's Dorchester Convention, a convention started in 1965 by Bob Packwood designed to arrest the drift of the Goldwater-ite GOP toward the nutty right fringes.
@GOP The undercard speaker at the 2017 Oregon @gop Dorchester Convention headlined by Roger Stone was this fine gentleman, who went on to distinguish himself in this manner (and, I believe, get fired for it).
@GOP Correction: this was the *2018* Dorchester Convention where this all went down. Seems like it was 10 years ago. Also, the GOP did end up nominating a fairly moderate candidate for governor, who got beaten handily all the same. Couldn't shake the Trump millstone in a blue state.
