@billburton I just listened to your interview with @ErinBurnett and if I had one question I could ask you it would be, why @HowardSchultz will not just jump in as a Democrat? If his message is appealing as an independent wouldn't it be just as appealing as a democratic candidate?
If he thinks his message is appealing to the middle of both parties, then wouldn't reason tell us that it would be appealing to the middle if he ran as a Democrat. Or even if run as a Republican. He should be on stage with the rest of the Democrats and make his case there.
I think that's where all the push back is coming. Unfortunately, we don't have a ranked order system of voting for POTUS. Until we do, third party candidates will most likely only serve as a major spoiler candidate.
In the interview, I really appreciated you confidence in @HowardSchultz, but at the same time I couldn't help but wonder that if you were that confident @HowardSchultz why not put his message up against @SenKamalaHarris @SenWarren @SenKirstenG @PeteButtigieg or rest of the crowd.
In closing, I offer this argument. There is a reason why Donald Trump ran in one of the two major parties, and it is that there is no way he would have had a chance of winning as a third party candidate.
He would have only siphon votes from one of the other major party candidates. By all means, @HowardSchultz should run if he has this urge to serve his country. He should take away the thing that Donald Trump got right from the start of his campaign, he picked a major party.
I hope the next interviewer, @jaketapper @soledadobrien @cnn @MSNBC challenge you and the possible candidate with that question. If @HowardSchultz really doesn't think he would be a spoiler and that he has a message that the middle wants to hear, why not pick a party?
