I parsed the IAM condition keys and resource info out of the AWS and put it into json, along with code to do so. (this is the same info as iam.cloudonaut.io but json): gist.github.com/0xdabbad00/581…
Using this, I can now count that only 186 of 4641 (4%) AWS IAM privileges support tags. Not sure yet why this data has 4641 privileges and the policies.js method has 4925, but at least it's close.

This is just some key points you repeatedly state in every interaction with a group of people. In his case, it was every time he talked to execs at our company, he would mention these points. 2/4
Some of these were messaging so they knew our value, but some were asks, because you never knew who could fulfill it. As a young engineer, I felt every conversation I have should be new, and not repetitive, and that people would remember what I said and route requests I had. 3/4

AWS Service count by month using botocore. I walked the git commits and recorded the count of services at that time. Currently 138 services by this measure (cat botocore/data/endpoints.json | jq '.partitions[0].services|keys|length')
botocore's commit history goes back to 2012, but the directory structure changed at the start of 2016, which is why this only goes back that far right now.

AWS Config records 20% (67/334) of the resources that can be created by AWS CloudFormation.

The numbers are a little awkward to compare as 1) CloudFormation does not represent the total number of AWS resource type that exist, and 2) AWS Config sometimes supersets multiple CF resource types (ex. CF has SecurityGroup, SecurityGroupEgress, & SecurityGroupIngress)
But the important take-away is AWS Config does have anywhere near 100% coverage of all resources in an account. I don't know of any tool that does. CloudMapper's collect could be expanded to solve this problem if someone wanted.

Sometimes a "mv" of a large file (> 1GB) in the same directory takes a long time on linux. Sometimes it doesn't. Why is that?
Ok, more info: gist.github.com/jamesls/9d52c7… Current theory is something is forcing rename() to wait on IO but I don't know why.
Screw it, we're going into the kernel...you don't want me in the kernel. I have no idea what I'm doing there. But I really want to know why this rename() call is so slow, it's really bugging me.

Arch installer on a 4k display. The blotch in the top left corner is a root shell prompt.
Okay, interesting first hurdle: the NVMe SSD doesn't show up in linux. Apparently that's because it's in some schmancy windows-only "RAID" mode, and I have to switch it back to AHCI. Requires a bit of dancing to not brick windows in the process.

O.k., so this is me, 15 years ago, building a data center. That's what I used to do for money. This one was about 30 racks, and I was the project lead. It took me about a year to build it, everything from initial design to labeling cables.
