My first big @tesla road trip of 2019 is about to begin.

Destination: A ribbon cutting at the Fort Stockton supercharger.

Grabbing 6th place on the Most Superchargers visited competition is possible by the end of the trip.

And we are off. First stop, the just-opened supercharger in Staunton Virginia.
Decided to stop for breakfast at the Strasburg supercharger @DennysDiner, the most picturesque supercharger on the east coast and one of the best in the Continental USA.
A big thank you to @sheetz for adding yet another supercharger location in the Mid-Atlantic region. This one, which was just powered up on Thursday, is in Staunton, Virginia on I-81.
Whoa. Didn't realize there were @sheetz' this far south. Lenny and two Model 3s Charging in Hickory NC.
Greenville SC was the first supercharger of the day. Goal for today is to visit all of the superchargers around Atlanta and then watch the game with family this evening.
Did you know that R.E.M. and the B-52s got their start in Athens Georgia?

The album "Automatic for the People" was named from this restaurant.
Tonight's beneficiaries of @Tesla supercharging in Oxford AL are @FirehouseSubs and @FairfieldHotels
We had an interesting vehicle with us in our hotel parking lot.

You draw quite the crowd no matter where you are @Wienermobile!
Realized we were going to pass right by Tuskegee, so we stopped at the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic site.

They deserve every bit of praise they get (and more). Amazing history.
Almost to the Gulf.
Today's beneficiary of the @tesla supercharger network in Greenville AL was @CrackerBarrel.
And then we crossed into Texas.
The most direct signage I've seen to prevent ICEing. Very much needed since the chargers are very near a side entrance to the hotel. Wish all locations were this clear.

The Huntsville TX supercharger was one of the first 50 locations in the USA.

We've had almost no sun on this trip. Just fog, soupy skies, and spurts of rain.
Hello Austin
The temperature has dropped 40 degrees since yesterday here in Austin and, yes that is a snowflake showing in the weather app around 1 p.m.

We had to dig out our winter weather gear again.
The lights in chandeliers in the Texas House of Representatives spell out TEXAS within the Lone Star.
This is not an energy display I should be seeing in Austin Texas.

I protest this weather.
Since I have a long, cold, and fast run to the Junction TX supercharger tomorrow, I'm topping up at the Austin supercharger. I had to wait when I arrived and no spot has remained open for more than a few seconds. Austin already needs another supercharger and one is on the way!
As we depart Austin for the Fort Stockton Golden Spike Ribbon Cutting, it is 33 degrees and raining. Once again, I protest seeing an energy graph like this in Austin Texas! Off we go into Far West Texas.
Cold and windy yesterday but we had a great turnout, including the city's Mayor, for the Golden Spike event at the Fort Stockton TX supercharger.
Our stay at Hotel Limpia in Fort Davis, a small town of ~1200 people, was amazing. What a cool place to visit.
We then visited Marfa, famous for being an "art town," the "Marfa lights," and the location where the historic movie, Giant was filmed. Definitively a quirky place.
US90 from Marfa back to I-10 has two art displays, one a reminder of the filming of Giant and the other a quirky "store" of Prada merchandise in the middle of the Texas scrub.
El Paso here we come.
We've reached the turnaround point of the trip, the El Paso Texas supercharger, with just over 3,000 miles having passed under Lenny's tires.

Off course it is gloomy and raining, just as it has been all way across the country. Yuck.
El Paso TX and Juarez Mexico from the El Paso scenic overlook.

Loving Pixel #nightmode
What the heck is that? Yes, it is blue sky and sun. Was beginning to wonder whether we'd ever see them again.

Oh, and also a Super Guppy, one of the coolest and quirkiest aircraft ever. This one belongs to @NASA

I know where I will not be tomorrow morning.
Bernadette found this amazing state park 20 miles outside of El Paso called Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site. We enjoyed a quick hike before having to get her to the airport.
Eastbound with the sun behind me.

I love the Western deserts.
Amazing to think that in this tiny town, @SpaceX is testing the engine that'll take humanity to the Mars! Oh how I would have loved to hear Raptor fire.
The Arlington, TX supercharger is beautiful at sunset.
I have now visited all of the superchargers in Texas that were in the group of the 1st 50 superchargers built in the USA.

San Marcos
Waco
Columbus
Corsicana
Huntsville
Thank you @CollinStreet for supporting @tesla supercharging in Texas. I've visited three locations. Are there more?

Love the healthy food, clean bathrooms, comfortable places to sit, and WiFi. One of the most welcoming supercharging locations, and I've visited >340 locations!
I can't quite figure out why there is a supercharger in Nacogdoches, TX. The only thing that makes any sense is that it allows a direct route between Houston and Shreveport. Is that a route many people do?
Back east of the Mississippi River.
Long day on the road yesterday. Goal was to cut in front of the fast-moving storm that would be passing through southern Kentucky overnight with possible icing conditions.

Spent most of the drive off of interstates and notched up a bunch of inconvenient superchargers
Beautiful drive into Cincinnati this morning before the clouds set in again. The two new supercharger locations there both have a @meijer, which is awesome and makes picking up healthy road food much easier.
.@tesla turned on a new urban charger location in downtown Columbus two days ago. It is just feet from the convention center and also has a bunch of modified HPWCs with J1772 connectors for L2 charging. It is pay to park but largely on the honor system. Cc @pluginsites
With this visit to Altoona, PA, I think I've visited every @sheetz with a @Tesla supercharger. Your move Sheetz. Where are you going to make me drive to next?
And the trip comes to a close at the new National Harbor urbanchargers, which were powered-up Friday, and 6,219 miles traveled.

The original superchargers here went offline circa late December, so just two months to get these new ones online. Impressive.
And here is the summary. As a reminder, the trip is strung together as one thread so you can easily expand to see previous posts about the trip.
