So Trump claims that "walls work" and that it reduced crime in El Paso. He's probably basing that claim on this article. I'm not sure it's correct.

Instead of anecdotes (omg I hate anecdotes), let's look at trends. Trend in El Paso crime was downward before the 2006 start of building a wall/fence in El Paso, vs. trends nationwide.

Putting walls in urban areas stop "border crossings" dramatically, as the NYPost article shows. But they don't seem to have an effect on crime, drugs, or even illegal immigration.
