I travel a lot. Today I’m finally home after living out of my suitcase the last couple weeks.

Here’s how I avoid jet lag and save my circadian rhythm:
1. Fast until it’s morning at my destination. If that means arriving at noon and fasting until the next morning, so be it. If that means arriving in AM and eating immediately, so be it.

2. Stay awake until nighttime at my destination. No naps.
3. Stay active all day. Go walk (best way to explore new city). Get as much sunlight as possible.
4. Train hard my first morning, preferably outdoors. If I arrive in AM, I go work out. If I arrive later, I stay active and then train the following morning.
5. Take 2 mg melatonin an hour before my desired bedtime at destination and limit artificial light after dark. Blue blocking goggles help here.
