This is what economic discourse look like in 1954. Letter from my dad who was a professor at Harvard at the time to Charles Kindleberger.
Who is an acceptance letter in the journal Economic Development. The editor apologises that although the manuscript is accepted in July 1955 the paper not may not be published before May 1956.
My dad writing the Dean of Harvard in 1955 asking if they could set up a “program of study in the field of economic development.”
When face-to-face failed, they wrote a letter in 1952.

My Dad, being a good Catholic, sought & received permission to read Marx’s Works from archdiocese of Boston!

But note that it is time-limited to the academic year of 1953 1954!
