1. I have more "Not Really For the People" News. A couple of weeks ago the Minister of Municipal Affairs proposed some changes to planning law the would likely make some rich people a LOT richer.
2. Current planning law allows Toronto to make sure we have land for industry and high employment commercial uses. Basicly, we protect them by forbidding condos and other residential uses.
3. The Minister has proposed a scheme that will lift the protection for as much 1/3rd Employment Lands in Toronto. They have given us until the end if the month to comment.

City staff QUICKLY wrote advice for what the City comment should be: app.toronto.ca/tmmis/viewAgen…
4. Thing is if we lift the residential restriction the value of the property jumps immediately. By jumps I mean the land is suddenly worth many times what it used to be worth.
5. I asked staff what the total value increase could be. City staff told me "multiple $Billions"
6. You read that right the Minister wrote a little change that could put multiple $Billions in the pockets of certain land owners, and gave us six weeks to comment on it
7. For WHICH People? -end
