1. Look, @SteveSchmidtSES, I get it. You want your party back from Trumpism - you want space for the ideologies on which you've staked your careers. Same for other Never Trumpers like @MaxBoot, @DavidJollyFL or @davidfrum. Running @HowardSchultz as an IND in 2020 isn't the way.
2. The #GOP didn't get here overnight. The Southern Strategy, the alliance with Evangelicals, the anti-intellectualism, the systemic voter suppression - this has been a set trajectory for decades. One you were all a part of, even though you may not like where you landed.
3. And, yes, it may be that your party is forever ruined and a new one must rise, but there is no quick fix. Running Howard as an independent allows you to bypass the primary process. Claiming he is an "independent-centrist" is disingenuous. Independent of what?

As I wrote a few weeks ago for @damemagazine, 2020 won't be about one term, but two. Any Democrat running for 2020 must be prepared to be an incumbent for 2024. Sanders will be 83 going in.

The reality that neither Bernie nor Biden wants to face is how neither of them looks all that different from Trump on a debate stage. But the counterbalance between Trump and a woman, especially one 20yrs his junior, would be incredibly stark.

I'll say this clearly for you people in the back who just don't get it: I'll take a government full of establishment hacks over a fascist bigot threatening the existence of American democracy any day of the week. Hell, I'll fight for that "establishment" if it saves this country.
You want to make new law, pass progressive legislation, build a fairer country? Me too! First, save the system of laws by casting out this criminal regime. It's the whole ballgame. We will advance NOTHING till he's gone.

1. #GOP strategists have chosen to make Pelosi the central theme of their opposition attacks. Distancing from or denouncing Pelosi is a strategy to effectively neuter that attack. Lamb was successful with this - others are taking note.

2. It’s our practice at @DemsWork4USA to strategically support Democratic candidates with the best chance of winning in November. We don’t endorse based on litmus tests, alliances or at the behest of the official party. It’s our job to understand the political strategies in play.
3. Some of our candidates are employing the strategy described above. Given the nature of GOP attacks, it is a tactic that likely will see some efficacy. That said, we want to be clear that as an organization we do support Leader Pelosi.
