1) I like how they included an excuse for why he paid them money, clearly setting up the defense here.

2) This possibility would be a lot more believable if he hadn’t blatantly lied about details of the attack and tried to pawn it off on others.
As I said earlier today, there are possibilities here based on the public evidence. The testimony of the 2 individuals, the money, and behavior of Smollett make 1 seem very unlikely:
I guess Smollett’s lawyers have to do what they have to do, but no one should take this spin seriously.

His behavior has been despicable and has harmed real victims. He is not one.
He has nothing to lose now. Once he admits it, his career is over and he could be facing criminal charges. Might as well keep denying.

The attempts by the press to portray legitimate criticism of these 3 legitimately terrible members as just partisan sniping has reached pathetic levels.

Yes, Republicans are seizing on the two antisemitic and one socialist member of the Dem caucus.
And I really love the attempt to frame the criticism of them as racist and sexist.

There can't possibly be any other reason why people might be critical of antisemites and socialists.
Also, Politico could have at least given the New York Times credit before stealing this ridiculous framing.

I guess they did at least replace demonize with villainize.

People believe current take bc it's consistent w the evidence, while the original version of the story was filled w/ contradictions & red flags.

I can see why you'd want to deflect given your tweets on this subject, but you might be better off engaging in some self-reflection.
Here are the tweets lecturing that I'm referring to...

When you have a set narrative and a lecture ready, you might be less willing to look carefully at the facts or approach a story with skepticism.
Notice his tweets didn't even allow for the possibility that the assault didn't occur exactly as Smollett described. Scott was hardly alone in this approach. That's why it's hard to take the attempts to exonerate the press here seriously.

Shorter: Republicans are seizing on things that Democrats keep saying and doing....
This is beyond embarrassing. It's a whole article that tries to spin Republicans pointing out that Dems are adopting radical and offensive positions as just an unfair partisan attack.
R's didn't make Dems sign up for an insane socialist plan to restructure our whole economy and nationalize industries, block a resolution against infanticide, lower restrictions on late-term abortions, promise to ban private insurance, or protect several antisemitic members.

I have a on-screen keyboard I need to interface with, but I'm too lazy to manually record which coordinates correspond to what letters.

but what if I didn't have to?
I know where in RAM the name entry field ends up saving the name...
so what if I just spammed the whole screen, every 5 pixels?
and every time I find a spot on the screen that changes the name buffer, record the coordinates and which letter it typed?

You know when you are born and live in a country like Nigeria, you think all you need to do to escape the troubles of life is to get money. In developed countries where the rule of law, social order and justice is followed...
this is true to an extent. In a country like Nigeria, not so much. And here's why. Like @ayosogunro said in his seminal book, "Everything In Nigeria Will Kill You", having money or being "successful" is not enough.

In Nigeria, a tanker can fall on your G-Wagon and kill you,...
you can get into labour, deliver twins, get unattended to for hours and die like happened to my friend @catherineegwali just last week (RIP Cathy), you can get kidnapped on your street because security is non existent, and so on and so forth.

Basic line, wealth only goes so far.

2/ Early in the development of browsers, it’s fair to say that every feature that was developed to permit people to have control over what they are shown/see was met with massive resistance from “advertising” write large.
3/ Popup blockers. It was incredibly annoying to browse the early web. You’d open a page and more windows would open. You’d close a window and more windows would pop up.

AND as soon as popup blocking was added there were cries of “this is the end of the ‘free’ Internet”.

I did something similar to this 5 years ago, in anticipation of EC & @theroots' Wise Up Ghost LP, on tumblr.

(You can still find all those posts if you look, although a lot of the YouTube links etc are now dead ends. It was 40 Days Of EC then, so for 2018 I'm upping it to 45.)
Mostly I will be going chronologically from the early years right up to the present, but it feels right to start out with Costello's 2002 song, "45."
