If you listen to the zealot Brexiters, the same incompetent politicians who've been fighting like cats in a sack for the 968 days since the referendum are the same people capable of delivering a safe, orderly no-deal Brexit in the next 40 days. Cult levels of reality suspension!
Another way of looking at it: from Statutory Instruments to trade deals to new computer systems, we have far far more than half the preparatory work left to do, with only 4% of the time left.
But there's another giant disconnect: Brexiters complain bitterly that Brexit's going really badly because the wrong people are in charge of delivering it, yet at the same time they also claim that a no-deal Brexit is not only survivable, but positively desirable.
