After years of testing, I feel like the metro newspaper industry has come around to a common price point for a digital subscription: about $100/year.
The Dallas Morning News (@dallasnews): $117/year, or $103.48/year if you pay for two years upfront. 
The Toledo Blade (@toledonews): $99/year. The Omaha World-Herald (@OWHnews): $99.95/year. The Salt Lake Tribune (@sltrib): $95.88/year.
The Kansas City Star (@KCStar), Charlotte Observer (@theobserver), and Miami Herald (@MiamiHerald), all McClatchy papers: $129/year.
The Akron Beacon Journal (@ohiodotcom), and The Oklahoman (@TheOklahoman): each $119.88/year. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (@PittsburghPG): $129.48/year.
A few metros are substantially cheaper: The Deseret News (@DeseretNews) in Utah is only $43.68/year. The Tulsa World (@tulsaworld): $71.40/year. St. Louis Post-Dispatch: $79/year. The Memphis Commercial Appeal (@memphisnews): $83.88/year.
And there are a few that are still trying to go higher. The San Francisco Chronicle is $179.88/year. The Philadelphia Inquirer (@PhillyInquirer) is $182/year. The Houston Chronicle (@HoustonChron) and Seattle Times (@seattletimes) are $207.48/year.
And there are a few going *really* high. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser is $263.40/year (in Hawaii, cheaper elsewhere). The Boston Globe is $361.35/year. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (@ArkansasOnline) and Chattanooga Times Free Press (@TimesFreePress) are a whopping $408/year.
(Interestingly, each of those super-high-priced ones is the only major daily paper owned by its owner. The chains are betting on being cheaper.)

But it seems like most publishers have generally come to the conclusion that $10 a month or $100 a year is about what the market will bear. /end
