Labour's going to (try to) put its version of Brexit to a vote this week, in the form of an amendment (assuming it's selected by the Speaker). If the amendment fails, then their next step will be to try and secure a People's Vote.
So it's slow progress, but still progress. At least Jeremy Corbyn's stretching and limbering to come down off the fence he's been on since the referendum...
NOTE: not confirmed that Labour-initiated People's Vote will include Remain as an option (Keir Starmer has been strongly in favour of it). My guess is that it might be a 3-way question:
A) Remain
B) Leave on JC/May deal (whatever hybrid ends up agreed)
C) Leave without a deal
And of course if it turns out there's literally no majority for any sort of deal no mater what, it would HAVE to be a straight Remain vs Leave without a Deal vote by definition, because there's no deal that will pass the HOC.

I get the feeling most MPs just want Brexit to go away. (You and I know that the argument about our future EU relationship will rage for years, but it may feel less raw and pressing to them.) To that end, they're looking for a way to annoy the least number of people.
That may, unfortunately, turn out to be May's deal. Jeremy Corbyn can try and get a people's vote amendment passed, and fail. That's him off the hook with the membership. And Theresa May will say and do whatever it takes.
As for the Brexit headbangers like the ERG, well May's deal plays into their hands because they can oust her after the deal's done, install one of their own, then pursue slash and burn negotiations with the EU on our future relationship, before turning us into a low tax haven.

Important: despise the efforts of the media to portray it otherwise, Theresa May is NOT offering MPs a chance to take no-deal Brexit off the table.

What she is offering is much less useful: a vote on whether to leave under no-deal scenario. If that vote passes, we crash out.
If no-deal vote fails, MPs will be offered a vote to delay Brexit by extending Article 50. That's all. Doesn't take no-deal off the table, but merely postpones it by a few weeks or months. Make no mistake, no-deal will remain the default outcome even after *2* votes against it.
That's why the ERG are sounding remarkably relaxed about the prospect of a Brexit delay (though they're making token protest noises). They know:
A) No-deal remains default
B) EU are unlikely to accept a second extension
C) Closer we get to European elections, more stuck we are

A not-so-short thread which I hope simplifies a seemingly never-ending process but one which could have an abrupt end in less than 40 days. /1
Some context first: The key problem is the backstop - the Irish Protocol to us its proper name

It’s a section of the Withdrawal Agreement (WA) - a 585-page legal text which, together with a shorter Political Declaration (PD), forms the divorce treaty between UK & the EU. /2
The two texts - the WA & the PD - were the consequence of nearly two years of negotiations.

They were finalised + agreed by both the UK government (@10DowningStreet) and the EU (@EU_Commission) late last year. /3

#Brexit GE needs Some tories to support it which is unlikely given thst keeping corbyn out is the one thing that unites they would have a leader who intends to step down which is unlikely
The DUP definitely don't want a GE as they lose their leverage and ability to extract bribes

1. Worst national leadership in my lifetime forcing through the most damaging, misguided & missold policy I can remember. Ideology & vested self interest replace statesmanship, soundbites replace sound judgement & autocracy subverts democracy.

2. A flawed Leave campaign based on lies, deceit, disingenuity & over simplification & a #Remain one fought w/o any positivity from the Govt & no real commitment from Labour, whose leader was virtually AWOL, did no justice to #Brexit complexity & betrayed our democratic process.
3. A mere 37% of voters/26.5% of the Ppl voted leave in a legally Non-Binding test of public opinion which has been corrupted, on the basis of an illegitimate political promise & interpreted as being the irrefutable Will of the Ppl.
The 1st is insufficient to claim the latter!
