The executives also learned of an open letter being arranged for publication in The New York Times on Friday, also urging Mr. Bezos, the company’s chief executive, to reverse course again and build the campus in Long Island City, Queens.
The letter was signed by supportive unions, local businesses, community groups and elected officials including Representatives Hakeem Jeffries of Brooklyn, a top Democrat, and Carolyn Maloney, whose district encompasses the Amazon site, and the former mayor David N. Dinkins.

The variance in estimates extends to how many ISIS were killed. The best estimate to both is "a lot".
Nobody is trying to win a political victory any more, ie "bring democracy to the Middle East" or Afghanistan. It's all about weed whacking now.
The big investments have been in secret SOF airbases, kill chains and proxy fighters. Firm follows function.

Signs to look out for:
As the environment gets more hostile there will be pressure to form coalitions or "convoys of ideas" in the hope of finding security in numbers. There will be a need to pool legal defense funds and other resources.

None of these convoys will necessarily be permanent, nor will convoying be limited to conservatives. Because the general trend is ironically libertarian the forming and breaking of convoys will also affect the left and be more or less constant.
Second thing to look out for. The emergence of decentralized apps because the Big Silicon system will be too dangerous to leave unchallenged. Coalition potential.

These are sort of sentiments that are quoted warmly on the New York Times opinion page these days.
I try not to let them rile me, but this column with the big picture of a president on top of it is antithetical to the Gettysburg Address! It’s contrary to the whole idea of America.

And it’s in the holy goddamn New York Times.
