even if we do nothing, the climate crisis will cost us money. (NASA estimates that climate change cost the U.S. $91 billion just last year.) and some argue that the estimates of economic loss are likely too low b/c it's so difficult to estimate second-order effects. 27/

there is no scenario where the climate crisis comes at no cost. but without mitigation, we will just be losing money – not investing it and getting returns from those investments like in the GND. and the GND will bring benefits. 28/

project drawdown, for instance, estimated that the 100 most promising paths for fully decarbonizing the U.S. would save/make $74T + require a $29.6T investment. that's a net of $44.75T – close to the lowest cost estimate of the GND from AAF. 29/

and then there are jobs! a 2014 report from CAP on green growth estimated that $4 trillion in climate-related investment would create a net of 2.7 million new jobs. and the GND is a much larger plan than they propose!*
