The timing of the Trumps' request -- June/July 2016, according to Ruffin's people -- seems too early for this to be related to the $25M settlement of the lawsuit against Trump University. That was in November 2016, post-election.
But it did come at a time when @realDonaldTrump was plowing $ into his own campaign. Trump Org may have been hunting around for untapped sources of cash.
