A few months ago, I asked for recommendations about @rothys shoes and I wanted to report back on my experience. Spoiler alert: it was excellent and here's a (referral) link if you're inclined to make a purchase. share.rothys.com/x/ayo9NI #rothysinthewild
The 1st pair I got was a pair of loafers. I went with these over flats or points because I wanted something a little different. As per other reviews, I sized up a half size from my normal size. Immediately out of the box they were comfortable and ready to wear. #rothysinthewild Grey and white snake pattern Rothys loafers from the side. The only discomfort I had was from the very back, where they were very slightly stiff. I wore them around the house one day to soften that part and had no further problems. And they make great indoor house shoes. #rothysinthewild
In the side view picture, you might notice I'm wearing no slip socks. This is not necessary with these loafers because they have an absorbable lining that can be removed and washed (loafers are also machine washable) but I don't like wearing shoes with bare feet.
Side note: if you're looking for excellent socks to wear with ballet flats or loafers, I highly recommend these. I found them via a Fluevog group and they stay put! amzn.to/2Toa2LZ
The loafers are a little pricy but were worth it to me for the use I'll get from them. They're extremely cute, comfortable, stylish & will make an excellent conference and office shoe. And because I loved them so much, I decided to get a pair of sneakers! share.rothys.com/x/ayo9NI
The sneakers are, for some odd reason, less expensive than the loafers (but still not cheap) and I decided on a dark gray as a neutral color since I wanted to use them as a travel shoe. I also bought these a half size up from my usual size. #rothysinthewild Top view of dark gray Rothys sneakers with white trim. Side view of dark gray Rothys sneakers with white trim.
Surprisingly, these were even more comfortable out of the box and had zero breaking in period needed. The back has a very soft microfiber type lining that prevents rubbing. They have a somewhat firm bottom, that is comfortable for walking.
I wore these through 5 airports on my trip to & from Hawaii & during 20 hours of travel *each* way. I didn't take them off at all during this travel--they were comfortable enough I didn't need to. And I walked actual miles in them through the various airport (especially LAX. Oof)
I also wore these sneakers on a ziplining trip in Hawaii, and waa able to do short hikes, climb many ladders and bridges in comfort with zero issues. And like the loafers, they're fully washable. This is a stylish shoe I'll wear around NYC during #RWA19 #rothysinthewild
Last, I want to mention that Rothys are made from recycled plastic bottles. And that their customer service is excellent, as is their return/exchange policy. In short, I fully loved both pair & would happily invest in more styles & colors. share.rothys.com/x/ayo9NI #rothysinthewild
