“This is kind of like baseball,” says @ewarren. “You can run the platform — that is, you can be the umpire — or you can have a team in the game.” Her plan to break up tech companies is part of her Opening Argument on @MorningEdition:

Our talk with @ewarren shows an agenda considerably more ambitious than President Obama, who said the US could finance a better society if the wealthy pay “a little more.” Warren speaks frankly of dramatic change including an annual tax of 2% of the net worth of the super rich.
“Jeff Bezos, you had a great idea, you got out there, you worked hard... But remember, you built this fortune here in America," @ewarren said. Argues billionaires can pay more for US roads, bridges, police and schools that created conditions for them to profit. @MorningEdition
One issue raised in our talk but not fully answered: China. “We have a lot of trading partners who are good allies,” and the US should work with them to counter China, @ewarren said. But she opposed the Trans Pacific Partnership, meant to do that. Hasn’t laid out her alternative.
Her case against the TPP is that the wrong people had influence; that as US negotiators made the deal, corporate “experts” were “whispering in their ear.” @ewarren argues that the terms met US business interests more than workers’ interests. @MorningEdition @NPR
The view @ewarren offers of the wealthiest Americans is summarized in a brief exchange:

Q. Are you going to ... prevent them from generating wealth for the country, which is what they will say?
A. (Laughs) You’ve got to be kidding.
We’re collecting Opening Arguments here – three so far, @CoryBooker, @KamalaHarris, @ewarren. Monday, @SenSanders. Tuesday, @amyklobuchar. npr.org/series/7010437…
