I always have my hair searched if I don’t have PreCheck boarding pass (when others book work trips for me). It’s demeaning, exhausting & a detriment to my professionalism if my hair gets messed up before work. @ProPublica is looking for stories like mine.

This person deleted this tweet but: It’s still a @TSA issue. Women of color TSA agents typically lightly pat my head. White women agents put their dirty gloved fingers into my hair, digging around ‘til they touch scalp. The difference in treatment IS a TSA issue along w/ the tech

I just had this thought “OMG I haven’t published anything in so long! I’m a mess.”

Follow up thought: “I published a book a year ago. I’ve been promoting it ever since & working on the next one & publishing public writing. That thought is capitalism speaking, not me.”
I have to actively work to unlearn the hyper-productivity I once valued more than my own happiness or health. I have to actively resist the pressure to outpace academic #capitalism. I have to critique the system, not myself.

#DisabilityJustice Twitter please uplift this story. A white male principal push & tore the braids out of an 11 year old black disabled girl’s head after she told him to not touch her as he was removing her from class for spraying perfume. Dane Co. DA is not pressing charges.

I hope my students are in the house! Someone just asked about #disability & the @MeTooMVMT. @TaranaBurke spoke about the need to have those with lived experiences LEAD on these issues while also acknowledging that we all need to do the work to learn about & support each other.
She emphasized that we cannot work in our oppression silos. The #MeToo movement MUST be #intersectional. We need each other, ALL OF US, to be in this for change to happen.
Oooh and the next question she handles queerness & sex ed too. I am social justice stanning like none other. What a model of leadership!!!

Platonic(at first) Sheith cuddling. Where Keith and Shiro tend to crawl into one anothers beds to sleep. Always share hotel rooms with the single bed because 'why pay for more when we can just share'.

And everyone thinks they're 'together' but they really just like to cuddle.
Keith is an octopus and has a tendency to cling. Which is a good thing because Shiro is always cold and Keith runs hot so Keith is always yelping when Shiro shoves chilled hands under his shirt, settling against his lower belly where it's warmest.
Keith purrs like a sewing machine.

Shiro snores.

They always wake up tangled and content and warm.

I identify with these stories too much.
I did make it through college, see, and unlike many of the people interviewed here, I never doubted that eventually I would.

But the mistakes made along the way real. Lot's of obviously stupid decisions made because I just didn't have the background knowledge to not make them.
The getting through college was in many ways a very lucky thing. I went to a university with $7,000 a year tuition. My parents, with little higher education experience to speak of themselves, were making enough money to pay that half way. That was lucky--

Listen up kids. So when #Trump wants to replace #SNAP benefits with a box of prepackaged dry goods, it’s not just about #fruits and #veggies. It’s about power, race, ethnicity, labor, energy, disability, and language as well.
2) What people eat and what people are supposed to eat and what people had access to eat has always been informed by power. In ancient times, it may have been the nobility eating meat and wheat bread while peasants ate potages. Nowadays, it’s what people should not eat.
3) Just because people are poor does not mean that they do not have their own food preferences, ideas about food, or habits around food. Folks who use SNAP/#foodstamps will use their benefits, as they are able, to buy the food they can afford within these frameworks.
