Are Democratic leaders like @SpeakerPelosi and others going to continue to speak at the @AIPAC conference while the org is heavily backed by such purveyors of anti-Muslim racism targeting their own party members and the Muslim community?

In an attempt to steer this conversation around @ChelseaClinton, in the wake of an attack that killed 49 Muslims, in a useful direction, let’s talk a bit about anti-muslim racism and liberal complicity in it.
@ChelseaClinton If that makes some folks uncomfortable, I am not sorry. You will survive your discomfort but as we have learned over the last 6 months, many will not survive Islamophobia and antisemitism.
Being introspective in this moment about ways you have contributed to Islamophobia does not make you a victim, it makes you a responsible actor. We need more responsible actors in times like these.

There are many racist tropes that are sadly far too prevalent but rarely receive the sort of condemnation they deserve in the mainstream because of the extent to which this racism has been normalized....
Part of this is due to a lack of education around these issues. There is a far greater general understanding of what constitutes antisemitism than, say, anti-Palestinian racism.
It is a good thing that people are educated about antisemitism, and more education is needed, and much credit must go to the organized Jewish community which has emphasized the importance of this education.

A lot of the conversation now around the smearing of @IlhanMN, allegations of antisemitism and the US-Israel relationship are something of a proxy for a bigger, tense divide among Jews in the US and Israel. Some thoughts on this will follow....
@IlhanMN The Jewish community in the United States and Israel are roughly equal sized populations and in many ways embody two different answers to “the Jewish question” and antisemitism - Zionism vs. Multiculturalism
Zionism’s answer is that the only way to ensure the security of the Jewish people is through a Jewish state - a largely homogenous ethno-religious nationalism where Jews dominate the state, the laws and the security apparatus.

Isaacs has an extensive history of sharing anti-#Muslim sentiment on @Twitter, & has promoted the views of prominent anti-Muslim activists like Robert Spencer.
