Trump says he is "very thrilled" to welcome Bolsonaro. He congratulates Bolsonaro on his "incredible" and "tremendous" election victory. "The end result was something the whole world was talking about," he says.
"We have many views that are similar," Trump says of himself and Bolsonaro, mentioning trade. He congratulates Bolsonaro for his recovery from a "horrible ordeal," possibly referring to Bolsonaro getting stabbed during the campaign.
Trump calls on the Maduro forces to "step aside." He calls Maduro "nothing more than a Cuban puppet." He adds, "The twilight hour of socialism has arrived in our hemisphere," and "hopefully" in the United States too. "The last thing we want in the United States is socialism."
Trump makes the scheduled announcement that he'll designate Brazil a Major Non-NATO Ally, then adds, off-script, "Or even possibly, if you start thinking about it, maybe a NATO ally." He says he'll have to talk to "a lot of people" to make that one happen.
Trump says he is working "very strongly" on the Space Force.
Trump tells Bolsonaro it is "wonderful" to get to know him. He says, "You're doing a fantastic job. You've brought the country together."
Bolsonaro tells Trump, per the interpreter, that he has always admired the United States, but his admiration has only increased "since you took office."
Bolsonaro, per the translator, talks about fighting political correctness and "fake news." He then cites Reagan.
Trump gives the first question to Reuters, not Fox as usual. He is asked about "losing momentum" against Maduro and how long he's been told it'll take. He says there's no specific time frame; "at some point," "things will change."
Trump laments the decline of Venezuela. "No food, no water, no air conditioning, no anything, no power for a long time last week, no power...it's very sad, Roberta, very sad to see."
Bolsonaro is asked about his position on a possible US military intervention in Venezuela. He touts the value of secrecy, citing how Trump said during the campaign that he wouldn't telegraph his strategy against ISIS.
Trump, asked about military intervention in Venzeuala, says, "All options are open...we'll see what happens." He then turns to Bolsonaro's son and says, "Would you please stand up? The job you've done during a very tough period of time is just fantastic."
Trump gives his second question to the Daily Caller. He rejects the idea of adding seats to the Supreme Court. He is then asked by the Caller about going after social media companies. He complains about Twitter taking followers away from him.
Trump makes unfounded and unspecific allegations of "collusion" involving social media companies. "Something has to be going on," he says, adding, "Something's happening with those groups of folks that are running Facebook and Google and Twitter."
Trump says he is "proud" to hear the president of Brazil use the phrase "fake news."
The Daily Caller then asks Bolsonaro how it'd affect his relations with the US if the US elects a "socialist." Bolsonaro says it's an internal matter and he'll respect the outcome, but he believes Donald Trump will be re-elected.
Trump says the US will, "in honour of the president," be supporting the entry of Brazil into the OECD, though the Office of the US Trade Representative has been opposed. It'd been reported this week that Brazil didn't expect the US to announce its support on this visit.
