Chen: I’m so proud of the US for having two medalists now. This competition was awesome. It’s always great to compete in Japan and to compete in front of a sold-out crowd. It’s great for the sport #WorldFigure
Hanyu: b/c Worlds is in Japan, the audience gave me extra strength. I felt that, it's thanks to many people that we can have this competition - the icemakers, the media, the staff. I am disappointed w 2nd place. I have nothing but respect for these two skaters here #WorldFigure
Zhou: This is the best result that I could possibly hope for. To share the podium with friggin Nathan Chen and Yuzuru Hanyu is absolutely incredible. To be able to compete and perform here in Japan is such an honor. #WorldFigure
Zhou: Everyone has been so supportive and everything has been really great. I am super proud that I was able to put together two strong performances, building on the momentum I started getting at US Nationals. #WorldFigure
Hanyu: I think I was able to focus all my emotions internally and feel it during my performance. I wasn't able to win, so I can't say much about being a champion. I really want to evolve further in many different aspects #WorldFigure
Chen: I really like to know what's going on. It helps me prepare mentally for what I need to do. Regardless of what happens, I need to do what I can. It's such a huge honor to be with Yuzuru in Japan. I was fully expecting him to bring the house down. #WorldFigure
Chen: Fortunately, the Pooh bears were all on 1 side of the rink, so I was able to warm up. Hanyu had that huge reaction, and the audience cheered for me too, though a little less loudly. <laughs> It's an amazing feeling, and it's the reason I love skating so much. #WorldFigure
Chen: 2022 is coming around the corner. But there’s still a lot of skating to do, but it’s a little immature to talk about what to expect there. I am still in it because I want to represent the US Team at the Olympics again. I don't even know what the plan is now. #WorldFigure
Hanyu: I agree with Nathan. I don't even have a plan for next season. I will have to watch the condition of my ankle. I'd like to think about it. #WorldFigure
Hanyu: After I hurt my ankle, I wanted to make sure I could do at least a 3A w/o painkillers. We didn't have a lot of time; for 2mos, I was relying on the same jumps that I had since the Olympics. I think my ankle is stronger now #WorldFigure
Hanyu: I would definitely like to do a 4A. I promise that I will do it in competition, otherwise there would be no meaning to it. I also need to monitor my injury and figure out what kind of training is needed. I want to do 4A, 4Lz, and 4F #WorldFigure
Chen: If anyone is going to do a 4A, it's this guy (Hanyu). I'm just happy that I hit my 3As here and this season. I'm happy with what I did today. I would love to bring back the 4S - it was the plan this week but I didn't think it was the right move #WorldFigure
Chen: There are a lot of things I can improve on. There's never going to be the perfect performance, but I would like to come as close to that as I can #WorldFigure
