Some thoughts on Attorney General Barr's letter: first, the President is claiming total exoneration. Special Counsel Mueller explicitly concluded that the President was not exonerated by his investigation on obstruction. So that's just wrong. 1/5
Second, Attorney General Barr concluded just in a weekend that there is not sufficient evidence to concluded the president committed an obstruction offense. That's pretty different from what Mueller concluded, so we need to see the actual report to understand that gap. 2/5
Third, courts have found that there can be obstruction even if there is not an underlying offense. Barr's analysis seems at odds with that, which is another reason why seeing Mueller's analysis is crucial. 3/5
Fourth, a conclusion that there may not be evidence of criminal activity does not mean there has not been serious misconduct in these areas. It is more crucial than ever for Americans to see the full report and for Congress to thoroughly investigate. 4/5
And finally, we can't forget there are so many other investigations and indications of wrongdoing - the SDNY investigations of campaign finance violations potentially including the president, conflicts of interest and constitutional violations, and many others. 5/5
