Hey @BorisJohnson it is a lie to say that MPs voted to leave the EU on 29 March 2019 and you are a liar.

Let's count the ways in which that is a lie. First, the date - 29 March 2019 - is a function of the Prime Minister's decision to trigger on 29 March 2017. MPs did not make that decision, the PM did.

Second, Article 50 explicitly contemplates an extension. Even if MPs had, which they did not, chosen to trigger on 29 March 2017 they would have done so knowing Article 50 could be extended.

Third, when MPs voted to trigger Article 50 in 2017 many would have voted believing the notification could be revoked. They would have been right to believe that. So they voted only conditionally to leave the EU.

Fourth, MPs did explicitly vote against leaving without a deal. Clearly and explicitly. Leaving on Friday would mean leaving without a deal, a proposition they voted to reject.

The reason the country is in this disastrous, humiliating, damaging situation is that a group of wealthy men and women have lied and lied and lied to the public about a Brexit whose consequences they are sheltered from and from which many hope, in one way or another, to profit.

Enough. It is time the tax dodging wealthy foreign newspaper proprietors stopped printing their lies. It is time the BBC stopped broadcasting their lies. It is time you and I started calling out their lies.
