Oh, you mean what Donald Trump has been doing for years? When does *that* indictment happen?

1/ I don't have feelings about Avenatti one way or another, I just feel uncomfortable with the former law partner of Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani announcing charges against a Trump critic the same day we find out that critic is accused of doing the same thing Trump did for decades.
2/ Now we'll see the same Republicans who've publicly supported Trump through a lifetime of defrauding banks jumping up and down with excitement as a Trump critic is accused of doing just that. It damages our rule of law immeasurably, and reveals them as active enablers of crime.

WP (my emphasis): "If collusion means what Mueller reasonably took it to mean—an 'agreement,' 'tacit or express,' with the Russians to interfere with the election, or, in effect, a conspiracy—it was always virtually unimaginable that collusion, *so defined*, would ever be found."
1/ Conway—writing in the WP—gets it: no one ever believed Trump had a before-the-fact tacit/express agreement with the Russians—either the IRA or GRU—to interfere in the 2016 election. And that's why—for all that Trump claimed his innocence of that accusation—no one ever made it.
2/ The most interesting articles that can be written right now are those noting how much the media got *right*. For instance, no one accused Trump of Conspiracy with the IRA or GRU—and Mueller found no such Conspiracy. On Obstruction, people thought maybe, and Mueller said maybe.

Just a clarification: Mueller found no chargeable conspiracy—and then looked at "coordination" under a definition identical to conspiracy. If, for instance, Trump was being bribed for his foreign policy—a collusive act—we'll find out (if at all) from one of the 20 pending probes.
1/ EDNY, for instance, is investigating—using, it appears, 4 cooperating Mueller witnesses: Barrack, Nader, Flynn, Gates—whether Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Bahrain and (yes) Russia were involved in an effort to bribe Trump via a "grand bargain" on sanctions and nuclear technology.
2/ If EDNY uncovers that Trump's foreign policy was the result of bribes set up by Broidy—whether the offer was made to Trump directly, or via Nader, or to Kushner via Nader or any one of a number of permutations—no will say it wasn't "collusion" because it wasn't Mueller's case.

1/ I knew things were bad when @maddow put up two straight 100% WRONG chyrons on her show on MSNBC last night—"Barr & Rosensten Conclude Mueller Doesn't Have Evidence Trump Obstructed Justice" and "Barr: Mueller Finds No Proof of Collusion, Doesn't Offer Judgment on Obstruction."
2/ @maddow has focused on Trump-Russia more than any U.S. journalist—so if her show has LITERALLY NO IDEA what happened on Sunday and can only express it in on-screen chyrons that are 100% WRONG, America's in real danger of having our Trump-Russia discourse descend into nonsense.

IN ADDITION to the Nike extortion charges in NY, fed prosecutors in LA also allege @MichaelAvenatti "embezzled a client’s money in order to pay his own expenses and debts ... and also defrauded a bank by using phony tax returns to obtain millions of dollars in loans."
The complaint in California alleges Avenatti "misappropriated his client’s settlement money and used it to pay expenses for his coffee business, Global Baristas US LLC."

He also allegedly defrauded a bank in Mississippi to "obtain three loans totaling $4.1 million."
Repeating -- Michael Avenatti now faces charges in federal court on both coasts.

Federal prosecutors allege he not only tried to extort millions from Nike, but also stole millions more from a client and a bank.
