Thanks to whoever recommended the movie Colossal to me a year or two ago. I'm clearing out my Netflix DVD queue and it just came up.
It bends genres and genre conventions in all sorts of weird and fascinating ways. Some of it makes absolutely no sense, but if you read it as an allegory, that mostly doesn't matter.
And earlier this week I watched the 1974 Black Christmas for the first time, so that's two big genre flicks in a few days that turned out to be pretty much all about misogyny in ways I wasn't expecting.
