That some people found Biden's physical intimacy welcome and appropriate doesn't mean that others did, or should have. Neither experience invalidates the other.

"After virality" is a growing genre of news story, and I think it's a really useful one. We all move on, but the stories don't end.
("How the internet ruined this person's life by yelling at them for twelve hours" is a distinct genre from the one I'm talking about. Those are sometimes useful, often not.)

I am really uncomfortable with the Biden camp dragging Chris Coons’ kid into their defense narrative.
She was a child when it happened. She’s still a child. She hasn’t spoken about it. Leave her alone.
At dinner tonight I suggested that it might have been okay if Coons had said, “My daughter asked me to say...”

My sixteen-year-old daughter immediately gave me nine (nine!) reasons why it wouldn’t have been.

People who argue against the demographic changes that mean Leave voters are dying and being replaced by younger Remainers by saying "ah, but the Remainers are getting older so they're becoming Leavers" are missing the point.

Yes, people tend to get more conservative as they age.
But people are shaped by their environment. Young people who have grown up in a world of cheap travel and global connectivity have a very different formative experience from those who grew up during or in the aftermath of WW2.
So Remainers won't simply become Leavers by ageing. It's not the next stage of the attitudinal conveyor belt. Over generations, attitudes really do change, and stay changed.

People who were expecting Mueller to find Collusion are really puzzled by Manafort's sentencing documents for Mueller. They can't figure out why all of these Manafort leads in the documents are going away from Trump.

When will they figure it out?
They still haven't figured out that Mueller's assignment was to disprove the false information that was planted to make it look like President Trump was foreign agent. Mueller was appointed to stop Andrew McCabe from laundering those false allegations through the FBI!
The entire point of Mueller's appointment was to determine help Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein who was planted in Trump's campaign in an effort to create the Russian Collusion myth take hold...

The fear is because you're in unknown territory, dealing with consequences for speech. If you process that fear and get through it, you'll find yourself in a new place: one where you think about what you say.
Life is better when you think about what you say. I regret a lot of off-the-cuff remarks I've made and things I did not adequately think through. I regret some things I didn't have the courage to say, but not the things I almost said but considered and thought better off.
I think oten people tend to regard discursive rules about who should speak on a subject as safety things, as in, "stay in your lane OR THEY WILL COME FOR YOU." Or as a sacrifice they have to make, a price one pays for participating.

But I just think it's healthy to think about.
