The White House Correspondents' Association is giving Ed Henry a journalism award at this year's dinner. The willingness of some journalists to bend over backwards to help a propaganda outlet that seeks their destruction will never cease to amaze me. whca.press/awards/
I pointed out at the time that Weekend Steve Doocy's interview of Scott Pruitt, which the award was for, was good. But as is typical for such things, at Fox's top shows the interview was largely ignored. mediamatters.org/blog/2018/04/0…
That's because Fox's core business model is right-wing propaganda, but the decent journalism that happens there is central to the network's PR effort. mediamatters.org/blog/2019/03/1…
Fox needs to be able to say "we do some good journalism, too," even as they poison their audience.

The WHCA made the decision to reward that.

In March 2017, Sean Spicer started an international incident by spreading Fox commentator Andrew Napolitano's claim about this. Napolitano was citing Johnson, who had made the claim on RT. Brits denied it, Fox suspended Napolitano. mediamatters.org/blog/2017/03/2…
Johnson is a conspiracy theorist who has baselessly accused John Kerry of committing war crimes and claimed during the 2008 campaign that GOP operatives had a tape of Michelle Obama railing against "whitey" (the tape did not exist). mediamatters.org/research/2017/…
It's hard to quantify just how insane it is that the president of the United States is making this allegation against the UK government based on a conspiracy theorist's accusation as related by the right-wing television show he is watching this morning.

The meeting is about "the health of the public conversation on Twitter," according to an internal Twitter email obtained by Motherboard, which is apparently the fancy way of saying "the president is working the refs with bullshit."
Conservatives have spent the last few years deploying against tech platforms the same bad-faith "bias" criticism they've used for years against the media. It works.

UPDATE: There seems to be some confusion about whether he's a staffer, a contractor, or a volunteer. I've confirmed he works for the Office of the Vice President, but he may have been moonlighting because this was a campaign event.

Brexit level delusions are getting worse. You cannot claim it is ridiculous that UK has internal border due to something you helped create, while claiming the idea of forcing our idiotic idea for Brexit on another country isn't. 1
