Today we launch our very exciting campaign for a massive global programme to draw down carbon from the air through ecological restoration. @dpcarrington explains it here: theguardian.com/environment/20…
New scientific studies reveal that #rewilding has a much greater potential for carbon drawdown than almost anyone imagined, and could make the difference between a habitable and uninhabitable climate. #naturalclimatesolutions theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
We've published a letter in the Guardian, calling on governments to give #NaturalClimateSolutions the commitment they deserve, signed among others by @GretaThunberg, @MichaelEMann, @MargaretAtwood, @NaomiAKlein, @PhilipPullman, @billmckibben + @SimonLLewis theguardian.com/environment/20…
We've launched a website explaining #theforgottensolution and directing people to the wonderful organisations seeking to help nature to help stop #ClimateBreakdown: naturalclimate.solutions
And we have a beautiful animation, made by @al_boardman, explaining it all in 100 seconds:

Usually, writing and thinking about #ClimateBreakdown is pretty soul-destroying. But these new discoveries thrill and delight me. Please help us to spread the message, by RTing this thread, directing people to the site and encouraging them to support the groups we list.
I'm tagging some wonderful people whom I think will love this approach. Please help us to spread the word. Thank you.
Amidst all the misery, it's a real delight to write about something so positive and inspiring. And to work with the amazing people who have made this campaign happen (naturalclimate.solutions/who-we-are). Thank you!
Here's my response, in the thread below my column today, to those who say there's no point in taking action to defend the living planet, because it's all too late. I see this claim as a pathetic, self-serving attempt to avoid moral agency. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
One less than thrilling aspect: despite a concerted effort by a PR company working pro bono with us on #NaturalClimateSolutions, NOT A SINGLE BROADCAST MEDIA OUTLET was prepared to cover this amazing topic, or even to mention our campaign. They are living in a world of their own.
I have tried again and again over the years to persuade the broadcast media to do its job and cover our existential crises - and the potential solutions. But I feel I'm beating my head against a wall. Despite their current claims to be taking these issues seriously.
