On day one of this Congress, the House voted to intervene in GOP's Texas v. US lawsuit, which would destroy pre-existing condition protections & much more. Back then, more than 190 House Republicans refused to vote to protect health care for American families. #ProtectOurCare
Moments ago, the House sent a clear message: the Trump DOJ must end its support for Texas v. US & stop its vicious attack on Americans’ health care. Yet 185 Republicans showed they agree with President Trump attacking people with pre-existing conditions & worse. #ProtectOurCare
House Democrats will fight relentlessly in court & in the Congress to protect and strengthen these lifesaving protections from the GOP’s attacks, as well as continuing our work to lower health costs & prescription drug prices for all. #ProtectOurCare

Today, @SenSchumer & I had a constructive meeting with @realDonaldTrump agreeing on a big and bold initiative to build the infrastructure of America.
The purpose of the meeting was to find out the amount of investment the President was willing to agree to. We were pleased he suggested $2 trillion. We agreed to meet again in three weeks, at which time we will hear the President’s ideas for how he would pay for such a package.

One of the positive side effects of the excruciating, awful, relentless months in which the sole GOP legislative goal was to end the Affordable Care Act and eliminate protections for people with pre-existing conditions is that, today, people can tell that Republicans are lying.
Take, for example, this ad by Republican Rick Scott. One of his Senate campaign's closing arguments is that, he claims, he supports "forcing insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions"—& cares even more than the Democratic incumbent, Bill Nelson.
The problem that Nelson faces is that the Floridians who care most about health care were watching the ACA fight very, very closely. They were calling @SenBillNelson's office day after day. They know Nelson promised to protect their health care. They know he kept his promise.

I was Speaker when we passed the Affordable Care Act that has given millions of Americans newfound coverage and protected over 100 million people with pre-existing conditions. At the same time, I have watched as Republicans railed against it.
I watched as Republicans in Washington forced over 60 votes to repeal and/or undermine people's health care. Now, they want to run around the campaign trail and claim they're in favor of protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions? I don't think so.
Paul Ryan and Republicans didn't seem to care about the health care of young children or seniors and the skyrocketing cost of prescription drug prices. They VOTED to destroy pre-existing condition protections, slap those aged 50-64 with an Age Tax and increase the uninsured rate.
