I think it is important to point this out. Some of our own excellent MPs in Northern towns and cities go back to their constituencies and literally get booed and hissed at (and much worse) if they even mention a 2nd referendum. Even if they don’t support one themselves. 1/8
It’s very easy to be sat comfortably in your Remain constituency and not have a clue what some of our MPs are going through. Solid left MPs being treated like the enemy isn’t just stupid, it’s incredibly short-sighted. And this works both ways. 2/8
Some of our MPs on the left are wanting a 2nd vote, but that doesn’t make them any less worthy of our support on matters away from Brexit. Some of the MPs I truly respect are on both sides of the 2nd vote argument, but I still respect both of them if you know what I mean? 3/8
My own view: I am a Remainer, I believe our future is best served inside the EU. But, I am a pragmatic Remainer. 2 sets of fraudulent arguments got put to the nation, and the bigger fraud of the 2 ended up winning. I’m still gutted now. But that’s just me. 4/8
I would support a final say vote, I thought Kyle/Wilson had potential. And then I see the other side of this toxic argument. I’m not comfortable with pretending 2016 never happened, and I’m not comfortable with the castigation of some of our MPs, on both sides of the debate. 5/8
Shoot me down if you wish, I think if we can’t get any substantial movement from Theresa May then we should support a confirmatory vote, if we can get substantial movement, we shouldn’t. But that’s just a personal view. 6/8
Anyway, what I’m trying to say is simple. People on the left are still people on the left, whether they’re leavers or remainers. Respect people who are fundamentally on your side. Pretend Brexit doesn’t exist for one moment, would that person be on your side normally? 7/8
Try not to let people add to the division. We all have our differences, but that is what makes us who we are. If we all thought the same we would be called UKIP. Some of our own MPs under attack are our best hope of achieving a Corbyn-led Socialist Labour Government. 8/8
