This story is out in the open now, so I guess I might as well say that the unnamed employee in the DataCamp post was me.
I haven’t talked publicly about this experience before. That’s been a complicated decision, but for me it’s been the best way to try to move on with my life.
I didn’t know they were going to publish this post, but now that it's out I appreciate everyone who has responded to say that what happened is not okay.
I’ve been incredibly supported by my friends in the #rstats community, family, and especially my partner @no_reply. People have showed up for me in major and material ways, and I’m very grateful.
The post takes care to note that I didn’t report what happened until months later. Nor did many of my colleagues who saw what happened. I’m sure I don’t need to explain the reasons people don’t report things like this immediately.
In those few months I worked with a lot of wonderful instructors who obviously didn’t know about this. To any of them who feel in an awkward position now, I’m very sorry.
What happened to me is all too common, and it is not ok. If anyone else is struggling with similar situation: you deserve better, and you have my support. ❤️
Thank you all for the kind and supportive words. I can’t respond to everyone but it means so much to me 💖
