What R3 misses here is that chauvinism and tribalism are aspects of human nature

There are many instances of minoritarian chauvinism across the length of the country in many shapes and forms

To give those.a clean chit and harp on just RSS doesn't befit a commentator
VS Naipaul got it right in his 1990 work when he talked about India experiencing a million mutinies as it is awakening from many centuries of slumber

Hindu insecurity represents one of the many mutinies and rages. And a legitimate one at that
There are other mutinies of course...

You have Dalit insecurity, the rage of many influential OBC castes, Muslim rage, Dravidian chauvinism and of course more militant mutinies in the fringes (e.g. Kashmir, and to a lesser extent the North East)
While many traditionalist Hindus may regard these other mutinies with utter contempt I don't

I think these are natural manifestations of rage in a country coming of age, and graduating beyond mere subsistence
But it is annoying when the intelligentsia legitimizes the historical distortions, and simplifications encouraged by these numerous subaltern movements, but looks askance at Hindu revivalism - which is also a radical movement of sorts and hardly conservative or Establishmentarian
Sure, Hindu revivalists are no angels

The movement has its share of bad eggs. Its share of propaganda, historical distortions among other things

But its claims are every bit as legitimate if not more so than the claims of the many other mutinies that modern India is witness to
