For me this part of the Scruton interview is inexcusable and it was correct he lost his government post.
According to Wikipedia, Islamophobia was first used as a term almost a century ago. Maybe earlier in French
I found a dicey site claiming Islamophobia was invented by the Muslim Brotherhood to stop people criticising Islam, but that appears to be a conspiracy theory.

People of public prominence should stop saying it doesn’t exist or is invented to stop people criticising Muslims.

Legal Aid should be available for all families at inquests (investigations into deaths).
▪ 'Human rights' inquests identify state failings and stop them happening again
▪ I have lots of experience of this - failings more likely to be identified if families are represented 1/4
▪ Public authorities - hospitals, prisons, police are *always* represented by lawyers. Who pays? Public funds
▪ There should be equality of arms
▪ Lawyer for family of person who died is the only lawyer challenging state witnesses and making sure failings are identified 2/4
▪ If Legal Aid was granted for families it wouldn't cost a huge amount more proportionate to the public funds going into the process but the process would be far more effective
▪ More failings identified, more accountability, more deaths prevented in future. Simples! 3/4

Fascinating speech by Lady Hale, President of the @UKSupremeCourt, on why have a UK Supreme Court. Great insight into the original justification for setting it up and thoughts on whether it is a constitutional court or not

Basically, to sum up, it’s the constitutional court for a country with an unwritten constitution! A very British fudge but one which is working quite well (for now)

They don't like #Iran or #Qatar
I found them while looking at the #Russia hashtag, they are either bots or a coordinated trolls. Haven't figured it out yet.
I highlighted them here in the tweets I pulled for #russia
They all use the same naming convention, have similar creation dates, and similar "stats', they also have very similar descriptions.
Regular twitter data never looks like that.
After pulling a timeline for about 20 of them you can see they are tweeting close to the same thing at the same time.

UK confirming plan to compel millions of citizens to pay to apply to keep legally established rights feels important and unprecedented. But barely a media ripple today - with a few honourable exceptions noone appears to be asking tough questions. So here are a few:
1. How is this scheme compatible with Article 8 of the ECHR, enshrined in UK law via Human Rights Act, protecting right to family life? Has Govt taken legal advice on prospects of a challenge by EU citizens? If so what did it say?
2. Why should EU citizens have to pay a fee for confirmation of existing rights legally and properly exercised?

Final installment of the Uber litigation for the afternoon. Since lunchtime, Uber still hasn't complied with the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (just and favourable remuneration + holidays with pay), so I guess we have to keep going.

It's May, meaning a lot of my artist friends are graduating! Some of my UK friends are considering freelancing, while searching for jobs or even jumping into it full time and getting themselves out there! Some advice. Do not undersell yourself. You have #rights! (thread!)
As of August 2017, the Artist's Union England determines the following hourly rates for an artist to be fair; £21.04 p/hr for a new graduate artist. That's about $28 dollars for my US friends. This goes up to £27.27 p/hr for 3 yrs+ exp, and £31.47 per hour for 5 years or more. /2
If you are doing sessional/daily rates such as presentations, consultations and installations. You should be looking at £166.24 p/day (£ 83.12 p/ 1⁄2 day) for a new grad artist, £218.19 p/day (£109.10 p/ 1⁄2 day) 3 yrs+ exp, £270.14 p/day (£135.07 p/ 1⁄2 day) 5 yrs+ exp. /3
