Smart Leftists know this, as anyone who has spent time in academia will tell you. They spent a century trying to disprove that it exists, but Benedict Anderson put that to bed with his seminal work, "Imagined Communities."

Why?
Most Leftists, including (I suspect) Wajahat, are just ignorant tools. Nationalism holds together the liberal nation-state system. Marxists, who are one-worlders, hate that system. But it is inherently unifying, just not around their ideology. It inherently opposes it.
Since they couldn't disprove the existence of nationalism, or defeat it in a war of ideas, they now are trying to change the meaning of it to be something inherently racist or divisive.
