Extraordinary and total legal victory for climate skeptic Peter Ridd who had been punished for academic views by climate thugs at James Cook University (Original complaint by or supported by Terrence Hughes). All university actions found "unlawful".

interesting small fact in Mueller Report re Papadop hiring at LCILP. Papadop initiated contact with LCILP on Feb 4/16 by email to Nagi Idris. Papadop wasn't lured to LCILP

2/ watch the pea on page 93. Mueller says that Papadop meeting with Downer (May 6) was after Podesta hack and after "the GRU hacked into the DCCC and DNC". Latter is sly: DNC emails were NOT hacked until later (May 23). Mueller should have stated this clearly.
3/ watch the pea re Carter Page on page 110. They cite Isikoff article, but do not discuss fabricated Steele allegation of supposed meeting between Sechin and Page, luridly asserted in Isikoff article.

Julian Barnes & Adam Goldman (NYT) published fluff on CIA director Gina Haspel, claiming that Haspel convinced Trump to ratchet up tensions with Russia by showing images of young children "hospitalized by Novichok nerve agent that poisoned the Skripals" & nytimes.com/2019/04/16/us/…
2/ a "photograph of ducks that British officials said were inadvertently killed by the sloppy work" of Russians in Salisbury. I've followed Skripal story reasonably closely and this is the first that I've heard about (1) children being sickened by Novichok (supposedly lethal)
3/ or (2) ducks being poisoned by Novichok. Further, duck story (@CraigMurrayOrg , @theblogmire ) seems wildly inconsistent with Skripal being exposed by novichok on doorknob at Skripal house.

1/ charge against Assange is violation of 18 USC 1030a. Indictment was filed on March 6, 2018 for incident on March 7, 2010, barely meeting 8-year statute of limitations. Despite clemency, Manning appealed her 1030a conviction. Issues seem relevant to charge vs Assange.
2/ 1030a, under which Assange was charged, is an anti-hacking law that requires that access to computer be "without access or exceeding authorized access".
3/ Manning didn't HACK into DoD computers. M had high-level clearance and was entitled to access the files delivered to Wikileaks. M's 1030a conviction - and this is little known - was on questionable technicality: use of widely available Wget to access files available on portal

A Federal Court judge has ruled James Cook University acted unlawfully when it sacked physics professor Peter Ridd after he publicly criticised the institution and one of its star scientists over claims about the global warming impact.

As I replied to @EricHolthaus- I'm aware of and inspired by @givingwhatwecan & @GiveWell work on global health/poverty; I personally want to support climate mitigation. I realize there's no one right answer, depends on theory of change etc; curious to hear different perspectives.
Esp. in climate arena where impact could be on different possible levels (eg X tons avoided from cookstoves vs Y tons #fossil CO2 kept in the ground vs systemic political or economic change)- curious to hear diverse range of theory of change or evidence of effectiveness.

Alright, let's get this party started: First, numbers aren't 100% accurate but anywhere from 170-190 species of #sharks call Australian waters home. That's a lot, seeing as how there are roughly 500-ish species.
According to the Australian Government's Department of Environment and Energy, of those 170-190 species, around 70 are thought to be endemic. Endemic means "native to a specific region or environment and not occurring naturally anywhere else."
