Re-reading the full context of @IlhanMN's remarks on 9/11 that created so much controversy, I'm still somewhat in awe at how stupid the whole thing is. It's clear what she was saying. Anyone attacking her is acting in bad faith or didn't care to read her actual remarks
As a Muslim who was here during 9/11, the intent of Ilhan's remarks is even clearer. These people—who we as individuals (and not as prisoners of identity politics) have nothing to do with—committed these acts, and then we were asked to endlessly condemn and prove our loyalty
It's actually outrageous, and I guess I've been saving up some of this anger and frustration for the past week. I'm generally inclined to consider the "other side" of a given story. Here, there simply is no other side
