Here is a fascinating I photo of took, when I was in the basement of DNC, working on a story in late 2016 about the Russian hacks. It is the filing cabinet made famous during a certain Watergate break-in. Just sitting there, outside elevator, in the basement, next to UHaul boxes
I asked folks from DNC: Where's the server that Russians hacked? They said they had that upstairs. The next day when I went back to the DNC, they had moved the server Russians had hacked next to the Watergate filing cabinet. UHaul boxes? Who knows. There's a bit of history for u.
This moment (I still somewhat in awe of how history goes in cycles and how relics like this serve as real-life touchstones to such monumental events) became a part of our late 2016 story, The Perfect Weapon nytimes.com/2016/12/13/us/…
